Halfway Through April. How is Spring into Yoga Going?

I admit I haven’t written a lot about yoga this month. Between marathon training, the Ragnar Relay, traveling to Alan’s announcing gigs, and my real work, I haven’t had much time to write at all.  The #SpringintoYoga Challenge has taken a backseat, but I am still managing to keep up.  I admit that most days I’ve been doing the minimum, about 10 minutes of gentle or restorative yoga. And during the relay, I was more concerned about getting 10 minutes of sleep than my downward dog.

Now that Ragnar is over, taxes are done, my seasonal fitness center on the down slope of a busy season, I will have more time both to practice yoga and to write about it.

If you are like me, and tend to struggle fitting yoga into your daily life, here are a few tips that help me.

How can you get more yoga into your life?

  1. Try a video or audio yoga class from YogaDownload.com. I’ve been a fan (as well as an affiliate) for several years and I am always impressed with the quality of the classes. The instructors are knowledgeable and provide clear instruction at a level that you can choose, from beginner to advanced.
  2. Check out your gym’s group exercise schedule. Most gyms have several classes a week on the schedule and they are included in your regular gym dues, making this a cost effective way to practice guided yoga.
  3. Check out a yoga studio near you. If it is close to your work or your home, it is much easier to stick with your practice. There are many styles of yoga, and each instructor has a different style, so shop around to find the perfect studio and instructor for you (you all know mine, April at Yoga Central!).

    I have been to a few yoga classes this month, but not as many as I would like. However, I think I am close to spreading my body too thin with my training and life, and something had to give or my running would significantly suffer. I get yoga in when I can, I need to download some to do at home though, thanks for the idea :) Hope you have a wonderful day!
