Have you ever read a great book, seen an inspiring movie, or heard a great joke, and thought, “I’ve got to share that!” Of course you have! Here are a few things from my Reader in the last week that inspired and motivated me, made me happy, sad, and angry, made my stomach growl, and made me laugh.

The view, my running partner, the weather, were all inspirational (in spite of a funny dog-in-motion effect from the panorama shot).
This week I wanted to highlight some of my favorite Vegan MoFo (Vegan Month of Food) posts, plus some other vegan recipes that are not participating in Vegan MoFo. But there was too much great stuff out there this week to skip entirely, so I’m also sharing some general posts that I found inspiring.
Vegan MoFo Posts
Best Themed MoFo: Spa Bettie, Pumpkin Whoopie Pies with Ginger Cream. The originators of Vegan MoFo encourage bloggers to have a theme, though it is not required. Kristina’s theme is “Treats and Sweets,” so you can probably count on seeing more posts from Spa Bettie before the end of the month.
Best “Old” New Recipe: Vegan Eats & Treats, My Beloved Minestrone Recipe. When I was a kid I hated vegetable soup, but I love minestrone. Who knew? Amey shares her favorite go-to minestrone recipe.
Most Fun with a Theme: Snarky Vegan, 50 Shades of Kale: Green Meanie Martini. Even more fun that the title of her theme, Julia introduces each recipe with a little scenario reminiscent of E.L. James’ book.
Fast, Easy and Delicious (I’m talking about the cake!): Sexy Vegan Mama, Cheater’s Apple Coffee Cake with Only 6 Ingredients. Cinnamonny (is that a word?), buttery, wonderful, what more can I say? As Christina-Marie says, “who wants to spend time in the kitchen when you’ve got 50 Shades of Kale Grey waiting on the nightstand?”
Want More Vegan MoFo Links? JL Goes Vegan, Vegan MoFo Posts You Can Use. If you just can’t get enough Vegan MoFo, JL lists her favorite posts from the first week (that’s actually where I found the Snarky Vegan. Thanks JL, she’s added to my reader!).
Vegan but Not MoFo
Nothing Says Comfort Food Like…Vegan Dad, Tofu Pot Pie. I don’t care that it is not healthy. I. Love. Pot Pie. And considering I was raised on frozen Swanson pot pies, this homemade, vegan version is a 1,000,000% improvement.
Best Raw, Gluten Free Treat: Almost Vegan, Almond Pear Tartlets with Cinnamon Caramel Cream. Raw food sometimes gets a reputation as a labor intensive type of food preparation (and some of it is). Amber creates delicious recipes that are frequently simple and don’t need a lot of expensive equipment.
Who Doesn’t Love a Good Massage? Fat Free Vegan Kitchen, Massaged Kale Salad with Sweet Potatoes & Pumpkin Seed Dressing. Amazingly to me, one of my favorite vegan food bloggers discovered the joys of massaged kale after I did. She caught up quickly, though, and this recipe sounds yummy.
If You Love Pumpkin…Healthy. Happy. Life. My 25 Best Vegan Pumpkin Recipes…you’ll love this post. Kathy has recipes ranging from pumpkin lattes to pumpkin breakfast sandwiches to shakes to muffins to, believe it or not, pie.
Vegan and Gluten Free Winners: Arena Fitness, Quinoa & Sweet Potato Cakes. Stacey posted this tasty sounding dish, recipe courtesy of Whole Foods.
Most Thoughtful Post: Choosing Raw, Would I Ever Eat Chocolate Peanut Maple Bars with Buttery Frosting? Thoughts on Balance & Indulgence. Following up on another blogger’s criticism of Veg News’ lack of health focus, Gena shares her feelings about whether a vegan magazine should not publish recipes that are not really healthy.
Other Stuff
A Calorie is Just a Calorie Unless… Cranky Fitness, Calories, Even Sneakier Than We Thought. It doesn’t seem fair, but some calories just count more. Cranky breaks it down for us.
If You Need a Good Laugh: Tri-ing To Be Athletic, Minding Bending Thoughts on My L**S**D** Runs. Julie takes LSD and runs with it. No, wait, that come out kind of wrong. Oh, just read her post.
And the Awesome Medal Goes To…rUnladylike, August 70.3 Half Ironman Recap. Jesica became an Ironman a few days ago. Here’s her recap (Congrats, Jesica!).
Scariest Post: Simple. Green. Organic. Happy. We Are the Children of the Corn. Infographic. Robin’s not talking about a corn cob once in a while (non-GMO, m’kay?), the scariness of corn is that it is in everything, and certainly not in a healthy form.
Trying to Clear the Confusion: Fun & Fit, Cardio is Dead; Long Live Cardio. Is the fitness industry, in its infinite wisdom, giving us updated information or just trying to confuse us, the masses? Kymberly, as always wise and funny, straightens us out.
For the Bloggers: Healthy Living Blogs, Blog Tip Thursday: Klout. By Renee of Bendiful. My blog tip link of the week helps answer a question that I hear frequently from bloggers trying to use social media to market their blog, “What the heck is Klout and how do I get me some?”
Dog Photo of the Week: One Speed Go, Awesome Saturday Riding Partners. This made me smile. That is all.
My list was very long this week! I’m sorry but everybody was writing such wonderful things!
It’s your turn! Please share links to posts that inspired you this week. Are you proud of something that you wrote? Please share!
