No Sweat Sunday

After a fun weekend, I don’t have the energy for a lot of writing, so let’s recap in (mostly) pictures. (Actually in spite of the title, there was a lot of sweating going in. I just liked the sound of it.)

Saturday morning we met the cross country team at 5:30 am for a run. While the team ran to the cross, Penny and I ran a more level route. It was in the mid eighties, but a little less humid than it’s been. We ran 6.7 miles, the most I’ve run for a while.

Meanwhile, Buddy seems to be getting along fine in his new forever home. He is such a sweet dog it seems amazing that someone isn’t looking for him, but we’ve put up posters, made phone calls, and kept our eye out, but no luck. Or, I should say lots of luck because he is already a part of the family and we’d hate to give him up.

Saturday was bath day for the little half of the pack. Buddy was filthy, and the other needed it too, so everyone had a bath. Now they are soft, fluffy, and smell wonderful (if you like clean dog smell).

Dinner was a Southwest Tofu Salad with Kale, Avocado, and Spicy Vegan Ranch Dressing. I started with leftover BBQ tofu, so this was a quick and easy meal.

When I went to check the mail on Sunday (Saturday’s mail, I just forgot to pick up), I had two surprises. First, I received my Sweat Pink Race Tank! As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I joined the Sweat Pink Race Program. I was already dressed to run, so I’m planning to break it in when I do my Wednesday Workout in Las Vegas. I can’t wait!

The other surprise this morning was a package from Energy Bits. They have asked me to try out their product, which is made of spirulina algae and all kinds of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. They are designed to boost your energy for your workout. I was intrigued by the product because they are all natural and vegan, so I am excited to give them a try. Energy Bits sent me a free sample, which I also plan to use for my Vegas workout. Stay tuned for a review.

Penny and I did manage a 3.4 mile run this morning, but we got out too late, and it was very hot. We ran slow, took lots of breaks, and kept it short.

Alan and I were totally excited because our grandsons were in town (that’s my totally excited expression)! That is Dane in the orange shirt and Cash in blue. Their friend Jack is on the right. We picked them up this morning and took them out to breakfast.

Not a lot of choices for vegans at IHOP, but the kid enjoyed it and we enjoyed the kids. I had instant oatmeal and a dry English muffin. Blech. Oh, there were a few slices of banana on the cereal.

After breakfast, we took the boys back to their home and chatted with our daughter in law, Lisa and her friend for a couple hours. It’s always fun to see the family. After that, we went home, hung around the house and watched some Olympics.

Because of a long nap rest, we decided to have a late lunch/early dinner at Chipotles. I love their veggie bowl, and I was so hungry I was halfway through before I remembered to take a picture. It tasted a lot better than it looks, and it will certainly hold me over until breakfast tomorrow.

To finish up right around where we started, we are now watching the evening version of the Olympics, and Buddy is curled up in his favorite spot, on Alan’s lap. Tomorrow he has an appointment to be neutered, get his shots, and a check up. In my mind, that will make him officially ours.

All in all, a nice weekend. How was yours?

    • I almost always have their Veggie Bowl (you can also have the same ingredients in a burrito or tacos), with brown rice, black beans (their pinto beans have bacon!), I skip their sauteed veggies because they have green peppers and onions together, love onions, hate peppers. They have about 4 kinds of salsa, I get mild, hot & corn, guacamole and lettuce. They also have cheese and sour cream as options. It’s really quite good, about the best you can get for fast food-type eating. (And they serve beer :-) )

    • Make sure you rub the kale. Something I just found out, makes it softer and really delicious. A little oil and salt and gently massage your kale for a couple minutes. Seriously, it makes a world of difference.
