A Day in the Life: A HAWMC Post

Well, I spent an hour working on this post, my day nine Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge. I saved it, restarted my computer for a windows update, prepared dinner (and ate it), and my post has disappeared. Never happened before. Thanks, WordPress. Maybe I should think about using a blog writing client. Any suggestions?

Anyway, in a nutshell, I said that I was having a hard time writing a post for the daily prompt, which was to find a theme song for your health focus and/or blog. Instead I chose to write about my schedule for the day. It will be a lot shorter than before.

4:00 The alarm goes off.  After hitting the snooze button a few times…

4:30 Get up, have coffee, check email, spend morning time with Alan and the dogs.

5:00 Walk the dogs (all five of them), then feed the dogs and cats.

5:30 Head out for a six mile run with Penny, my Dalmatian.

6:30 Arrive home, take off my shoes, long sleeved running shirt, roll out my mat and spend an hour practicing yoga to an audio from Yoga Download (love them, by the way).

7:30 Hit the shower, dress, eat, etc.

8:30 Leave for work. It’s a half hour drive, which I spend listening to audiobooks. I am currently listening to Steve Jobs, by Walter Issacson (great book about a very driven, complex man).

9:00 Work. For the next eight hours I: updated some of my personal trainers’ brochures, did my daily financial paperwork and payroll, created a couple constant contact email blasts for some of my upcoming events, made flyers for those events, interviewed a massage therapist, got some quotes for a stationary bike that we’re thinking about buying, read/replied to some emails, made some phone calls, did the general business of a fitness center dealing with members, made a couple spa appointments (and probably some other things that I wrote the first time, but can’t remember now because it’s getting late and I’m tired).

2:30 Sneaked away for lunch, picked up a falafel pita from Garbanzo in Rancho Mirage. Brought it back to work.

5:00 Left work and drove home. While I drove, in addition to listening to my book, I decided what sounded good for dinner. Stopped at Sprout’s to pick up what I needed.

5:45 Arrived home. Kissed my husband, petted my dogs. Hit the power button on my computer as I went to change out of my work clothes. After I messed around for about 15 minutes figuring out why my internet wasn’t working, I opened up my browser, my blog and got to work on the original version of this post.

6:35 I was getting a message to restart my computer for windows updates, and it was time to start dinner anyway, so I saved my work (yes, I know I did), restarted my computer and went to the kitchen. I prepared a tofu, potato and mushroom burrito.

7:30 Alan and I sat down to dinner.

8:00 While Alan washes the dishes, I put the leftovers away and prepare the coffee for tomorrow morning.

8:15 I return to my computer to finish this post and find that it has disappeared. I briefly contemplated skipping it altogether, then, on second thought, decided to quickly review my day. It is now

8:45 I will spend the next 15 minutes or so finishing up the post, proofreading, working on my SEO, checking my links. This usually takes a little longer, but I’m aiming for 15 minutes because at

9:00 I want to go to bed, spend a few minutes relaxing with “Words with Friends,” then getting some sleep, because tomorrow morning my day starts at 3:30.

So, tell me about your day!
